this happened.

13 Sep

a lot has happened since I last posted in November (Has it really been that long?).

B and I vacationed in China for two weeks, celebrated our second wedding anniversary, B got a job offer in London (the England London!), B accepted said job offer, we found out I was pregnant, and then B moved to London. In that order.
There. You’re all cought up.

I’m due february 22nd. I’m joining Britton in the UK the first week of December.

I’m toying with the idea of starting a new blog to keep our moms (who don’t know this blog exists!) up to date with how we are doing, and more importantly, how their precious grandchild is doing.

This blog was originally created to just keep a fun record of graduating nursing, getting married,  honeymooning, and moving to northern Ontario within a span of 5 months. (2010 was a busy year)

and I feel as though I’ve somewhat outgrown this here space on the internet. Lets face it people, my life just isn’t that interesting. I don’t do crafts, I barely cook, I work full time and come home to my husband. Fin.

But hopefully my kid will be cute, and motherhood will come with lots of lessons and new experiences that I can write to our family and friends back home about. It’ll be a nice way of keeping them up to date.

So I guess bye for now. I’ll post a link to my possible future mommy blog.

…et bonne année grand-mère!

2 Jan

Every year around this time, my mom and I look up our Chinese zodiac predictions for the coming year.

Last year, for example, was the year of the metal tiger – Being that I am a rabbit, I was told that 2010 would be extremely fast-paced for me.
An accurate prediction indeed. 2010 was the craziest, busiest year I have ever had. It wasn’t a bad year, but it wasn’t a great year either – it went from one extreme to the other. When it was good, it was REALLY good (I got married!!) and when it was bad, it was REALLY bad (I had to work to support my husband who is still in school, while juggling paying off my student loans. I also moved away from all my friends.)

The Chinese new year is on February 14th this year – and it’s finally going to be MY year. That’s right folks – 2011 is the year of the rabbit. My husband and I are both rabbits, and this is supposed to be a “good luck” year for us. It’s predicted that it will be nice and steady paced, and centered around family.

Despite any predictions, I’m really looking forward to 2011. There are so many unknowns! At the beginning of 2010, I knew that I would likely be moving up north, that Britton and I would get married, that we would both graduate, etc.

I have no idea what’s in store for 2011, other than that my husband will be graduating from TC.

Will we move? Will he get a teaching job?? Unlike nursing, the job market for teachers in Canada is completely saturated – and there are definitely no guarantees that he will find employment. Which is sad.

Time will tell, I guess.

I guess one more great thing i can look forward to in 2011 – my soul sister JB will become JD on August 20th when she marries her prince charming, Ryan!! Yours truly will be maid of honour. Pretty much the event of the year, if you ask me.

Oh – and obviously – the royal wedding. I am sooooooo taking time off work so I can watch the nuptials live!! I am pretty much en amour with the adorable couple that is Prince William and Kate Middleton. Anyone else looking forward to watching this??

I kind of wish it was like a concert – and you could buy tickets to the wedding on ticketmaster. But if you did, would you have to buy a gift?? Something tells me that some cute towels from The Bay aren’t quite good enough for a royal wedding?

Will Canada buy the new Mr and Mrs a gift? I’m pretty sure we gave Charles and Camilla a fancy park bench or something?

I just had a thought…. does William have a last name?? Is “Of  Whales” his last name?? How did I never notice this before… WTF is the royals family’s last name!?

I wonder what life would be like with no surname and piles of money?

blogging slump?

3 Sep

Hmmm…. Just found a gem of a blogging activity over at Heather Drive!

Here’s the blog activity/game description:

Are you in a blogging slump? Here is a fun blogging activity to help you hit “publish post” again!

Over the next 10 days, blog about the items on this list:

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)
Day Seven: Four turn offs.
Day Eight: Three turn ons.
Day Nine: Two smileys that describe your life right now.
Day Ten: One confession

I am so not doing this everyday for the next ten days, but I will for sure do all ten!

I think I’ll start today, actually!

I can’t believe it’s over

23 Jun

Over the past two and a half weeks, I can’t help but wish I could go back and relive our glorious wedding day. Especially the reception. Oooooooh what a party it was.

I’ll let the pictures that found their way onto facebook by our many guests,  do the talking.

packin’ up.

12 Jun

in case you have not been reading mah blog – husband and I are leaving for our honeymoon at the crack o’ dawn tomorrow a.m.

A friend of mine asked me what I had packed, and since my life is now boring, I figured – why the heck not write a blog about it!!!

So here it is. My attempt at trying to “pack light” for an entire week.

– Buzz Away deet-free insect repellent (bought this at the health food store – hope it works!!)
– Scent-free lush shampoo bar (fancy smells attract bugs!)
– Lush Veganese conditioner (smells like lemon, and bugs HATE citrus fruits!)
– razor and 2 razor heads
– toothbrush and Tom’s natural toothpaste
– hairbrush
– SPF 60 sunscreen, and SPF 60 lip balm
– face wash, moisturizer, detoxifying mask (to help prevent breakouts in the humid weather!)
– 84% Aloe Vera cream (in case one of us *cough* Britton*cough* gets sunburned)
– John Freida brunette “waves” styling spray. I am sooooo not going to bother bringing a hairdryer or a straightener. If it’s one thing NYC taught me, just work with the humidity – don’t fight it.
– bobby pins
– makeup products… I’m still bringing makeup, including my Josie Maran lip stain. I’m skipping foundation though!
– contact lenses, and solution

Clothing and accessories
– three bikinis
– hiking shoes
– one pair of ankle socks
– two pairs of shorts
– One short sundress
– One long white tropical print maxi dress that my Dad bought me in the Philippines.
– two tank tops, one t-shirt
– a pashmina (for chilly nights)
– one pair of metallic silver sandals (soooo cute!)
– one pair of chocolate brown flip flops
– three pairs of sunglasses
– one really cute metallic silver head band
– costume jewelry (various)
– two bras (I also plan on wearing a bikini top under my clothes sometimes!)
– 7 pairs of panties
– copious amounts of lingerie. Seriously. I have half of a huge suitcase filled with outfits that I bought especially for the honeymoon.
-One pair of jeans (for the hike)
– one pair of leggings
– a really nice white tunic to wear over my swimsuit
– a large brimmed sunhat

– a book
– digital camera, case, transfer cable, and charger
– laptop computer and charger cable
– cell phone and charger cable
– Spanish phrase book for travelers
– beach towels
– Jeanne Lottie straw beach bag that will double as a purse while I’m there.

…so much for packing light. Too freaking bad. He’s stuck with me now.

….my Ami-kitty just threw up.

Off I go!

we’re on the 14-day weather forecast.

24 May

oh em eff gee.

Checked the weather report for today, as usual. When I got to the bottom of the page and the option to select “14-day forecast” appeared, I almost shit myself. It suddenly occurred to me that with only 12 days to go until the big day – June 5th would be included in that forecast.

Lucky me!!! Now I can obsessively check the weather forecast for the 5th everyday for the next 12 days!!!

Jun. 5
25 12 Sunny

That’s right. Sunny and anywhere between 12 to 25 degrees. It better stay that way!!! Thunderstorms are expected on the 6th. I am now worried that the storm will come early and ruin my hair. Yippee.

1st bridal meltdown and other randomness

5 May

blogging from a friend’s house – so no pics today.

1st bridal meltdown occurred on monday when I got horribly lost trying to find my florist’s home. I ended up in tears, convinced that the florist wouldn’t want to do business with me since I didn’t value her time, or that she would “spit in my flowers” <——- I actually said this out loud, BTW.

Long story short, Britton called her, explained the situation, she laughed. He rescheduled for the next day, when I had an appointment – so he had to go to the appointment himself. Yup. The groom went to the florist all by himself! hopefully he didn’t screw anything up. I’m sure everything will be fine though.

I’ve been super busy the last couple of days with job hunting/wedding planning/working out/activism. So haven’t been online much.

I’ve been biking over 10km/day for the last few days, just to get out there and hand out resumes.

In other news it’s MY GIRLS BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!!!

The greatest/sweetest/prettiest/mostawesomemaidofhonourever turns 23 today!!!

and I LIED – there is a picture in this post!!!
